Fourth Class have been learning about Place Value up to 9999 so to help them understand these bigger numbers they are using lots of concrete materials like dienes blocks!

On Monday, they combined their maths lesson with a science activity and became engineers … they had to build the highest tower they could using their dienes blocks which come in single units, tens, hundreds and thousands! It was great fun trying to figure out how to build a stable structure … some of them even experimented with pens and pencils to help the structure! And then they had to figure out the value of their tower by counting all the blocks they used! Well done, Fourth!!
