Halloween Fun

We would like to thank the Parents’ Association for organising all the Hallowe’en activities today.
We had a fashion show and the winners of the best costume, best group costume and best made costume were
selected. We had a successful Hallowe’en walk followed by a disco. The winners of the colouring competitions
were also announced.

We had a marvellous assembly where our school choir performed two songs for us – we even got to sing along with one of the songs. At assembly we celebrated the October birthdays and the many achievements of children over the past month; achievements in and outside of school!

Sciath na Scol Champions

After an entertaining contest and by the narrowest of margins, Cloughduv Senior Boys Team claimed the Allianz DF7 football title to win over Canovee at Páirc Uí Chaoimh.  We opened the scoring with a point but Canovee soon got a goal. Both teams battled hard went score for score with very little between the sides. We scored 2 goals and defended excellently to claim victory. There was great support from all the school who came as well as many parents.

The winning team and their manager, Mr.McElroy arrived back to a huge fanfare – a garda escort to the school and and guard of honour from the whole school and parents. Thanks for the Parent’s Association and Cuddihy’s Shop who provided pizzas for the team.

The team visited each class, shared some sweets and gave autographs.

We are immensely proud of the team!

Wellbeing Team

We are delighted to introduce our newly established Wellbeing Team. They have already been active in adding to the positive atmosphere in our school. We love that they have brought back Kindness Spotters and Kindness Certs. They have given big books to the classes. The books they have chosen are enjoyable and teach valuable lessons. There is a monthly display on each book that we read- all classes are represented!

Green School Committee

We have a new Green School Committee. They have lots of ideas for us. They will help maintain our good habits as well as start us on the journey towards the Travel Flag. They have completed travel surveys from 1st – 6th classes as well as a Walkability Survey in the school. These will feed into our Action Plan.

They have started composting, bin checks and are making a bug hotel. Soon, they’ll announce some competitions for all the school!

Cross Country

Over 60 children from 2nd to 6th classes competed in a Cross Country running event organised by West Muskerry Athletic Club. It had 25 schools from the Macroom area. The event took place in their training grounds in Ummera. The sun shone on the day which added to the joyful atmosphere. We had a number of medal winners. We are proud of all competitors.
