Winter Olympics

3rd and 4th class have been learning about the Winter Olympics and last week engaged in a STEM challenge.
Using only tin foil, they had to design and build a ski jumper that would stand up and travel down a slope on skis.
We looked at the best position for the ski jumper to be in for take-off, how far they travelled through the air and why some jumpers had better landings.

Art!

3rd and 4th class have really been enjoying the work they have been doing with artist, Julie Kelleher.
Julie has come to us as part of the Blast Art Programme in conjunction with the West Cork Education Centre.
She has been sharing her expertise on clay with the children and has helped them create clay structures of the Drombeg Stone Circle, which the children have been learning about in history.
We have 2 sessions left with Julie and can’t wait to see what else the children create.
