Science Fair

As part of the Discover Primary Science and Maths Awards, 1st and 2nd took on the role of teachers when they had  a Science Fair for Junior Infants to 3rd class. There were a number of stations where the visiting classes could carry out investigations. A lot was learned about static electricity. We are very proud of them.

The Discover Primary Science and Maths Programme (DPSM) is part of Science Foundation Ireland’s programme  which aims to increase interest in science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM). Our school are completing a number of steps to achieve the award.

Author’s Chair!

Author Olive Mooney came to visit the senior pupils and read three chapters of her first book, ‘The Book of Ornis’. She answered questions about the story and how she became an author. The children thoroughly enjoyed Olives visit, and her creative writing tips will no doubt help inspire our budding authors.

Olive graduated from Trinity College Dublin in 1994, with an Honours degree in History and Classical Civilization. She also has a Master’s Degree (by research) in History. She lives in Tipperary, Ireland. The Chronicles of Cadaver College series is her first publication.
