Ancient Egypt

Ms. Luttrell’s Egyptologists were very busy over the past month. They have been studying Ancient Egypt and learning about the culture and everyday life. Pupils thoroughly enjoyed the hands-on approach to learning, particularly when making their Mummy Masks

Science Week

Pupils had a wonderful time participating in Science Week this year, with each class focusing on different strands of the science curriculum.

Junior Infants learned all about living and non-living things and enjoyed their nature walk to find different examples of each. Our spacious grounds and garden provided lots of examples and they were able to find many types of plants and insects, before conducting an experiment to find out what happens to plants when they absorb water through their roots.

Senior Infants found out about materials and their properties, going from the best material for a waterproof raincoat to the tastiest experiment of all – melting chocolate to make buns!  They can also help the County Council when it comes to planning what materials are best for traction.

1st and 2nd had hair-raising experiences when experimenting with static electricity, and they also enjoyed exploring magnetism and lots of lightbulbs lit up when they made circuits

3rd and 4th didn’t get hot under their collars when exploring heat effects and deciding which materials were the best at conducting heat.

5th and 6th class put on their engineering caps and made individual, digital sound recorders from scratch! We will be sure to get on to them if we have any microphone issues in the school!

The week wrapped up with a colouring competition, well done to all involved!
