In January, the children enjoyed a fabulous percussion workshop. Two members from Bangers & Crash Percussion (Alex Petcu and Caitriona Frost) took them on a musical journey around the world visiting the Carribbean, Africa, Spain, the Middle East, the frozen North and the Far East. The children were introduced to some amazing and unique instruments and also got the opportunity to play with them using body percussion.

 

Children receive blocks of station teaching where they learn key skills in a small group settings. Stations include literacy and numeracy skills as well as fine and gross motor skills.

Children in the infant classes love engaging in Aistear. In Aistear, they undertake many learning activities through play. They learn about languages and how and when to use them; they learn to think and to interact with others and the environment. They learn to be creative and adventurous, to develop working theories about their world, and to make decisions about themselves as learners.

Early childhood marks the beginning of children’s lifelong learning journey. For this reason, this programme is called Aistear, the Irish word for journey.
