Gymnastics

The pupils were very lucky recently to get a taster of Gymnastics, which was kindly provided by the Parents’ Association with planning by Ms. Luttrell. The younger children had a gymnastics workshop in the school hall with a qualified coach. They had great fun & especially enjoyed the balancing activities. All the older pupils went by bus to Douglas Gymnastics club where they experienced a whole day of varied gymnastics activities. They commented that they could not pick a favourite as they loved them all!

Graduation

We wish you all the best!

Fun Day 2023

Cloughduv National School was a hive of activity for the Fun Day on Friday June 16th. We are very grateful to the P.A. for their help on the day.

Children had dance classes led by Tara. All classes played a variety of board games. Outdoor fun included parachute games, throwing activities, obstacles courses, disco,  penalty shoot outs and many more. Children from all classes played together.

Paul McLellan made sure that we didn’t go hungry by supplying delicious burgers for all children, staff and helpers. Very generous! As well as that, the P.A. organised a visit from an ice cream truck.

Despite the showers in the morning, no spirits were dampened and a great day was had by all!

School Tour

On Friday, June 9th, Junior Infants to 2nd class visited Rumley’s Open Farm. They enjoyed seeing the wide variety of animals, especially the meercats and the pigs!

They enjoyed a variety of activities which included tractor tours and mini golf. They also got to play in the large playground.

All had a fabulous day and needed the weekend to rest after a busy day!

School Tour to Oysterhaven

When we arrived, the instructors introduced themselves. Their names were Lucy, Aoife and Ronan. The structure of the day would be to go to the adventure area where there was a lot of muck first. Later we would go on to do water. At the muck there was a slide that led down to dirty water and you had to crawl through it. Then there were two wooden beams. Each person had to race and not fall into the muck. After that, there were two platforms on the dirty water. You had to pull yourself across first with a rope. Then, you would pull your teammate across. Who ever gets their whole team across would win. There was a tight rope and a zipline after that.

We had our lunch and put on our wetsuits and then moved onto the water. We went kayaking. We went individually and in pairs.. Then we went on an inflatable dingy boat and we jumped off a lot.

There was also an inflatable balance beam called “the moonwalk” and you had to run as far as you could without falling. We went back, changed and had our second lunch before we went back home. It was very enjoyable!

Cork City Sports

Many children from the school partook in Cork City Sports on June 1st. They had a beautiful day for the occasion. We are proud of all our runners. There were quite a number of trophies won by individuals and relay teams. Well done to all.
