Amazing April

Though we only  had two weeks in school this month, it was certainly a very busy April!
Our Green School Committee organised an amazing World Water Day, jam-packed with fun activities. Thank you to our Committee and Ms O’ Riordan for all your effort and hard work!

The school looked wonderful as we prepared for Easter, and we played St. Lachteen’s in very competitive games of hurling and Camogie, thank you for coming!  Thank you to Mr  O Callaghan and Mr McElroy for all of your training.  6th Class pupil Chris lined out for Cork in the Primary Games and Sarah will be playing at half-time of the Cork v Waterford game on the 15th May, go n-éirí an t-adh leat!

Congratulations to 5th and 6th Class who celebrated their Confirmation on a beautiful sunny day. It was wonderful to celebrate all together with friends and family. Well done to all of the pupils and Mr O’ Callaghan for their hard work in preparing for their Sacrament.

The infant classes were very excited with their brand-new, high-tech smart boards!! They’re wonderful tools for supporting their learning; whether for the children to prepare their own videos for the class to watch, research, interactive games, or zoom calls with experts. This is in addition to 16 iPads for whole-school use. Thank you Ms Purcell for all of the research and time you invested to make this happen!

The younger classes also started the Food Dudes Programme. Food Dudes is an award-winning curriculum-linked evidence-based healthy eating programme, developed to encourage children to eat more fresh fruit and vegetables. It is based on repeated tastings of fresh fruit and vegetables, rewards and positive role models. The children are wonderful to try new fruits and vegetables every day.
